Gable Cottage - Self-catering cottage on the North Norfolk Coast

About Sheringham

A small seaside town on the North Norfolk coast with an attractive, unspoilt sea front and promenade with wide and clean sandy beaches, earning it the Blue Flag Award. Fishing is still a part of the livelihood of the community putting to sea in small boats, checking pots for crabs and lobsters which are then sold in local shops.

The town itself is a friendly place, much of it built in the traditional flint cobbles and being well equipped with an excellent selection of individual shops alongside a small Sainsburys and a Coop. The nearest large supermarket is Morrisons at Cromer just six miles along the coast. There is a Saturday market, an interesting heritage museum and The Little Theatre which hosts a variety of productions from Easter to October.  The extensive Blue Flag sandy beach appears as the tide falls.

Walks abound in the area, both along cliff tops and in the surrounding woodlands and countryside.

It has a British Rail connection with Norwich and steam passenger trains run along the ´Poppy Line´ to Weybourne and then inland to Holt.

There are several good churches in the town and each Sunday evening, the excellent Salvation Army band can be heard marching through the town to their open-air hymn-singing service on the sea front.

The Reef Leisure & Fitness Centre provides a large indoor-heated swimming pool complete with chute, wave machine and cafeteria. While for the golfer, two courses are close by. Surfing is also possible if the tide and winds are right.
